About Me

Welcome to my Website!

Hello my name is Bob Lacivita (Mr. L). I'd like to tell you a little bit about myself.

After 11-years in the classroom, I was awarded Outstanding Vocational Educator of the Year. However, personal achievement is not what I'm about. Preparing my students to be successful and a contributing member of society, while becoming life-long learners, is my sole function as an instructor.

Thirteen years ago, after a very successful 27-year career as an ASE/General Motors Master Technician/Master Technician Elite with Pontiac and Oldsmobile Divisions of General Motors, I left industry to start my second career at NMTCC. Read the letter I wrote to the editor of Motor Age Magazine concerning the future of the automotive industry.

I was an editor, contributing editor, technical consultant to the Reader's Digest, The Family Handyman Simple Car Care and Repair,  a best selling non-fiction book published be Reader's Digest book division in 1996. In addition, I have been a technical advisor to Reader's Digest General Books Division and Maxim Magazine.

I have written extensively numerous automotive repair articles for and have been an editor, contributing editor, automotive technical consultant to The Family Handyman Magazine, "Handyman Garage" column and the annual "Handyman Garage Fast-Fix Special" section. Wrote and edited the Automotive Technology SIMs portion for the CSI (Curriculum Standards Integration Network).
